This article describes changes in rates of invasive health care-associated MRSA infections from 2005 through 2008 among residents of nine US metropolitan areas. Over the four-year period, the authors found that the rates decreased in two primary groups of patients: those with infections that began in the community and those with hospital-onset invasive disease.
