The final rule establishes a framework by which hospitals, doctors, and other health care providers may voluntarily report information to PSOs, on a privileged and confidential basis, for the aggregation and analysis of patient safety events.
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Foundation's Medication Safety Team Grant Program is now accepting applications for the Medication Safety Team Grant. The program supports and the grant program must involve research related to the use of barcode scanning technology at the point of medication administration to enhance the safe use of medications. This program will be available to research teams composed of a combination of pharmacists, nurse practitioners, physicians or informatics experts.
1. Medication Safety Intensive- 2-day program targeted to new MSO's or those leaders in safety who may want some fundamental review of medication safety issues. ISMP's conceptual model will be introduced and participants will have an opportunity in workshop breakouts to practice skills in risk identification, error analysis, and high leverage strategy selection. This program is offered at three locations across the US in 2009.
