Adverse drug events include those that are nonpreventable (adverse drug reactions) and those that are preventable by definition (medication errors). This teleconference, scheduled for February 19, 2009 at 1:30 pm (ET), will provide an overview of classification of adverse drug reactions and focus on the "preventability factor" involved in many of these "nonpreventable" adverse drug events. Case vignettes will demonstrate how many nonpreventable adverse drug events may indeed be a facet of medication errors, primarily those classified as medication errors of omissions. Join ISMP and learn how to identify patient-specific "preventability factors" as the key in reducing patient harm from the adverse effects of drugs.
