The American Society of Medication Safety Officers (ASMSO), based in Massachusetts, is a 501c (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement and excellence in safe medication use by providing leadership, direction, education and communication among its members.
2011 Organization Goals
-Develop medication safety education programming and online library
-Complete a membership needs assessment survey
-Implement Fellow of American Society of Medication Safety Officers (FSMSO) Recognition Program
-Develop a position statement for the measurement of medication use safety
2010 Organization Goals
-Strengthen partnership with the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) - Executive Committee COMPLETE
-Develop quarterly communication to the membership - Membership Committee COMPLETE
-Develop Fellow of American Society of Medication Safety Officers (FSMSO) Recognition Program - Professional Affairs Committee COMPLETE

-Ratify and adopt a mission statement that provides meaningful purpose for a sustainable organization dedicated to Medication Safety Officers COMPLETE
-Ratify and implement by-laws that establish a governance and membership structure COMPLETE
-Develop a committee structure to meet the needs of the membership and organizational growth COMPLETE
-Develop and submit an RFP for association management COMPLETE
-Enhance internet experience, user forums, value, and communication to the membership COMPLETE
